An interior showcasing stone, steel, oak and architectural glass working together
Materials & Craft

A home is only as good as what it's made of.

We maintain long-standing relationships with mills, quarries, glassmakers, and workshops so that every Chanan home is built from materials with provenance — selected for how they perform in year twenty, not just how they photograph on day one.

The Library

Our core palette.

Six families of material form the backbone of nearly every home we build. Within each, you choose — we guide, source, and guarantee.

White oak flooring and warm wood interior

European White Oak

Quarter-sawn, rift-cut, or wide-plank — kiln-dried and milled to order for floors, stairs, beams, and cabinetry that age gracefully.

Natural stone kitchen with marble surfaces

Quarried Stone

Marble, limestone, and granite selected slab-by-slab at the source. Book-matched islands, full-height splashes, honed baths.

Modern home with floor-to-ceiling architectural glass

Architectural Glass

Thermally broken, floor-to-ceiling glazing systems that frame the view while outperforming code on efficiency and acoustics.

Lime plaster walls with artisan finish detail

Lime Plaster & Specialty Walls

Hand-troweled Venetian and Roman lime plasters — breathable, mineral, and impossible to fake with paint.

Interior with bronze and brass hardware details

Bronze & Living Metals

Unlacquered brass, patinated bronze, and blackened steel for hardware, railings, and lighting — metals that grow richer with use.

Double-height living space showing engineered structure

Engineered Structure

Steel moment frames, engineered lumber, and insulated concrete where it matters — the invisible quality you feel as silence and solidity.

Behind the Walls

The quality you can't see is the quality that lasts.

Luxury isn't just stone and oak. It's what's inside the walls — and we over-build there on purpose.

  • Framing and foundations engineered beyond code minimums
  • High-performance envelope: continuous insulation and air sealing
  • Whole-home mechanical design — quiet HVAC, filtered air, balanced humidity
  • Pre-drywall inspections documented and shared with every client

Sourcing
Every major material is traceable to its mill, quarry, or workshop. We buy from partners we've worked with for years — many for over a decade.
Selection
You approve real samples, in your home's light — never from a catalog page. Stone is chosen slab-by-slab; wood lot-by-lot.
Installation
Master tradespeople only. Our craft partners are vetted over years, and the same crews return project after project.
Verification
Third-party inspections at foundation, frame, envelope, and finish — on top of municipal inspections, not instead of them.
Warranty
Two-year comprehensive aftercare, ten-year structural warranty, and a team that still answers the phone in year nine.

The Result

Materials chosen once. Enjoyed for generations.
